JCI PJ Corporate Consulting Experience - Registration update and FAQ

For all students interested to join the JCI PJ Corporate Consulting Experience, registration will now be opened from 18 - 29 April 2011.



FAQ on JCI Petaling Jaya Corporate Consulting Experience 2011

1)      What is Corporate Consulting Experience (CCE)?
It’s a unique program developed by JCI Petaling Jaya for students to experience life as consultant.  Students from Youth JCI Taylors / UNMC & Wall Street UNMC will be grouped into 3-6 persons and placed at companies for 3 weeks to do consulting work.  Each group will be given a topic to work on and at the end of the 3 weeks, they are expected to do presentation to the management and deliver the items required by the company (report, plan, campaign, flowcharts, etc). Students will also be required to attend a 1-day Corporate Essentials training to prepare them for work life.

2)      What companies will be involved in the project?
Companies range from start-ups, well-known brands and established SMEs from various industries eg IT, manufacturing, retail, food, etc will be involved.

3)      Why I should join CCE?
·         Increase your employability and give you an edge over other future graduates
·         Expand your network with other companies and other university students.
·         Experience life as a consultant

4)      Can I work with my friends?
You will be placed randomly according to your course, experience, expertise, preferred industry or location.  Therefore we can’t guarantee that you and your friend will be assigned to same company.

5)      Do I get a salary?
No salary payable.  Students are expected to take this as a learning experience and bear all cost for travel, meals and accommodation (unless otherwise specified). 


6)      Who can join CCE project? Can International students join?
All local and international students who are members of Youth JCI Taylors University, Youth JCI UNMC or Wall Street UNMC are eligible to join for CCE project. 

7)      I am only in first year. Can I still join?
Yes, first year can join.  However, do note that since places are limited, we will give priority to second year and above.

8)      I want to join, but I can only work for 2 weeks. Is this possible?
We ask that each student who join stay on for the whole project duration of 3 weeks.  So if you can only work for 2 weeks, we would advise that sign up in future projects.

9)      Are meals provided by the company?
Meals are not provided by the company unless otherwise stated.

10)  Are transportation & accommodation provided?
Transport and accommodation are not provided unless otherwise specified.  If you require assistance for accommodation or transportation, please advise the organizing committee to help provide you some options.

11)  Do I get to pick the company or location or industry that I am assigned to?
You can indicate in the online registration form your preferred industry or work location.  We will try to meet your requirement but the assignment will also depends on the need of the company.

12)  Do I need to send my resume and go for interview?
Not required unless the company request that you do so.

13)  What are the working hours?
The working hours is set by the company that you are assigned to.  Some companies may require you to be in their office from 9-5 each day, some may allow you to come for a few days and on other days to work from home / do fieldwork, etc.

14)  What is the job scope?
The job scope will depend on the companies’ needs.  It can vary from development of marketing plan, market research, business process review, development of procedures, etc.

15)  How long is the CCE Project?
The project will be conducted over 3 weeks. Day 1 is Corporate Essentials Training, Day 2 is Opening Ceremony (where you will meet your company rep), Day 1-15 is placement at companies, Day 5 there will be a networking dinner for all participants and company reps, Day 15 is the closing ceremony (where you will do a short presentation on your project).

16)  What is expected from the student?
Students are expected to be professional, committed, disciplined and diligent.  For the work placement, it is preferred that you have own laptop though not compulsory.  At the end of the project, students are expected to deliver all the deliverable requested by the company.  A company rep will be assigned to supervise you through – out the project.

17)  Do I need working experience?
Not necessary, but it will be an advantage.  Do highlight any relevant experience you have in the online registration form.

18)  Do I get extended lunch break on Friday to go prayers?
Yes, this is possible for all male Muslim students. Please inform the company in advance.

19)  What do I get at the end of the CCE project?
Each participant will get a Certificate of Participation and a support letter from JCI Petaling Jaya, which you can use as supporting document to your resume for future job applications.

20)  Who will be my team members?
Your team members may consist of students from various faculties and universities.  It will depend on the requirement of each company.

21)  How to register for CCE?

22)  How much do I need to pay for registration?
Students only pay RM40 each to cover the administration & training cost of the project.

23)  What is the attire during the project?
            Dress code will depend on the company you are assigned to. 
            You will be informed before the work   placement begins.

24)  Do I need insurance for this project?
It would be best (but not compulsory) for you to have insurance coverage to ensure that you are covered in the event of any injury.  JCI PJ and the companies will not be liable for any accidents that occur during this project.
